All Ireland / Leinster Club SFC St. Brigid’s 2-15 Summerhill 0-11

All Ireland / Leinster Club SFC
St. Brigid’s 2-15         Summerhill 0-11
The 2011 Dublin champions prevailed in the one sided encounter with Summerhill in the Leinster Senior Club Football Championship competition. After winning the Dublin SFC against local rivals St. Oliver Plunkett’s, St. Brigid’s would have been the bookie’s favourite to beat the Meath champions and they lived up to their reputation to convincingly dispose of Summerhill with a 10 point margin in the end.

Summerhill did well in the early minutes of the 1st half to keep up with St. Brigid’s with Sean Dalton leading the forward line who was very lively throughout the match but once St.Brigids went into the lead 0-4 to 0-3 they never looked back with 2 goals in the 1st half and a half time score of 2-7 to 0-4 points. The contest was effectively over.

Adrian Kenny returned to the pitch during the 2nd half after coming off early in the 1st half to help out his teammates but could not prevent the outcome. Paddy Andrews tormented the Summerhill backline and scored 5 points, 4 of them from play. Philly Ryan was also a standout player scoring 5 points from play. Dublin All-Ireland winner Barry Cahill dominated at midfield and even chipped in with a goal.
St. Brigid’s will later meet Wexford’s Horeswood in the Leinster SFC quarter final
