  1. Crossmaglen will have to plan for the All Ireland Club Championship final against Garrycastle without captain Stephen Kernan after his appeal against a red card in the semi-final against Dr Crokes was dismissed by the Central Hearings Committee (CHC).

Kernan was given a four-week suspension by the CHC, having been reported for “striking with the hand” during the match in Portlaoise on February 18th.

Though he contested his dismissal, the CHC found the “infraction alleged is more likely to have occurred than not to have occurred” and imposed a ban that would rule him out of the St Patrick’s Day showpiece.

  2. CROSSMAGLEN ARE already planning for the absence of team captain Stephen Kernan for their All-Ireland club football final on St Patrick’s Day.

Kernan was handed a four-week suspension, to include their next match, by the GAA’s Central Hearing Committee last week, following his red card in their semi-final win over Dr Crokes: that rules him out of the final showdown against Garrycastle on Saturday week, but given what’s at stake, Crossmaglen have taken the case to the Central Appeals Committee (CAC) tomorrow evening, where Kernan still hopes to have his name cleared.
