Dublin’s Philly McMahon may have a case to answer following an alleged 65th minute eye gouging incident in Dublin's All Ireland win over Kerry suggesting that he gouged the eye of Kerry skipper Kieran Donaghy.

It was a bad-tempered match full of unsavoury of the ball  incidents.

Dublin’s Diarmuid Connolly’s penalty after 5 minutes  gave the Leinster champions a 1-7 to 0-7 interval advantage. This was for a  foul on Paul Flynn may have taken place just outside the large rectangle.

Dublin’s Michael Darragh MacAuley and Denis Bastick were black cared in the second half.

Dublin got a lot of turnovers by Mayo over carrying  and they curtailed Mayo’s forwards well

Mayo’s O'Connor converted a  penalty after Colm Boyle was brought down.  Moran then equalised following a rash Cluxton restart and was the last score with none in 5 minutes of injury time.

Dublin’s Diarmuid Connolly was shown a red card at the end for an incident involving Lee Keegan and was only one of many incidents. Not the first time Connolly has been red carded in an All-Ireland semi-final but until the St Vincent’s man curbs his aggressive behaviour it will continue to be a problem.

J O’Donoghue pointed from a ‘45’ stretched the gap but the Red Hands drew level in the second minute of added time at the end of the first half. Kerry led by 0-8 to 0-7 at half-time, with a point coming from Kieran Donaghy .

Harte tucked away a penalty on the hour after a foul on substitute Barry Tierney

Tyrone were awarded a second-half penalty which Peter Harte converted and referee  Deegan did not award a further spot-kick. Padraig McNulty was yellow carded for diving in the second penalty incident. Mark Donnelly for Throne levelled it up three minutes later. But Anthony Maher, Paul Geaney (2) and Barry John Keane scoring points to win by four.

Offaly County Board's overturn the four-week ban on Brian Gavin

 

Hurling Referee BrianGavin was reported by football Pauric Pierce for making alleged comments during the Offaly Junior Football Championship quarter-final between Clara and Kilclonfert in July but the suspension was subsequently rescinded, allowing the high-profile referee to take charge of the All-Ireland hurling semi-final between Kilkenny and Waterford on August 9.

Gavin sought a hearing which was due to take place but Croke Park intervened and requested that the hearing be brought forward to avoid a distraction for Gavin as he prepared for Sunday's match 9 Aug.

Offaly County Board's decided to overturn the four-week ban without issuing an explanation

Pierce overcame a quadruple bypass 12 months ago to referee again and believes his treatment is typical and he has a thankless job.

"I'm wondering what ruling this comes under and I want clarification. If I made a mistake in my report or done something wrong then I want to know. I just want answers."

Pierce stepped down as Offaly Coiste na nÓg chairman as result of the ruling and even after seeking clarification 13 days ago, no response has been forthcoming.

What comments did Brian Gavin make to Pauric Pierce that Offaly County Board deemed not to be offensive and not to merit a ban. And will he referee the All Ireland final as a result.

Sean Cavanagh received a yellow card from Marty Duffy for a high tackle on Neil McAdam and Tyrone goalkeeper Niall Morgan was booked by Marty Duffy just before the break for altercation with Kieran Hughes.

Tyrone’s Conor Meyler got a black card from referee Marty Duffy for bringing down Monaghan’s Kieran Hughes

Tiernan McCann theatrically threw himself to the ground after Monaghan's Darren Hughes appeared to ruffle his hair during last weekend's All-Ireland SFC quarter-final.

As a result of this incident the Monaghan player Darren Hughes was sent off by Marty Duffy and subsequently Monaghan lost the game.

Referee Marty Duffy issued three red cards overall as well two black cards and 13 bookings.

Darren Hughes straight red and Paul Finlay a second yellow for Monaghan as well as Tyrone’s Ronan McNamee a second yellow.

The Central Hearing Committee of the GAA ruled that the Tiernan McCann’s proposed eight-week ban for his ‘dive’ in the All-Ireland quarter-final was out of order. As a result the Killyclogher clubman will now start for Tyrone in their semi-final against Kerry on Sunday 23 Aug in Croke Park.

"The Central Hearings Committee found that the Infraction as alleged was not proven but that the facts proven disclosed the less serious Infraction of attempting to achieve an advantage by feigning an injury for which he should have been cautioned and shown a yellow card."

Mickey Harte has described him as a fine young man.

McCann's team-mate Conor Meyler also had the black card he picked up in the Monaghan game rescinded.

Tyrone is the team Meath narrowly missed out to and would beat in another encounter.
