Cork and Armagh have had suspensions and both county boards fined €5,000 following the mass brawl at the the Athletic Grounds a fortnight ago.
Cork's Michael Shields faces a two-match ban and Pearse O'Neill has been banned for one match.
Armagh duo Malachy Mackin and Ciaran McKeever have both been handed one-match bans.
Cork selector Ger O'Sullivan has expressed surprise at the CCCC's decision. He told the Irish Examiner: "Okay, maybe they want to stamp out this pushing and shoving but I have seen it on DVD and I would be very surprised if anything came of it.

ReplyDeleteCork are expected to appeal the Central Hearings Committee's decision to make them play their next home Allianz NFL match away, as punishment for the fracas in their first-round fixture with Armagh at the Morgan Athletic Grounds.
The Central Competitions Controls Committee originally hit Cork County Board with a proposed €5,000 fine.
But despite what happened Monaghan for a similar altercation in their NFL match against Kildare -- they too lost home advantage for their next league match against Louth -- Cork went ahead and sought a hearing, but are now paying the same penalty. Armagh followed Kildare who earlier in the week withdrew a hearing request after learning Monaghan's fate.
Cork must now play their next home league match away to Laois in Portlaoise, a decision which will probably cost more than the €5,000 fine when gate receipts and travel costs are factored in. Any appeal will be based on a misappropriation of rule.
Armagh's Malachy Mackin was successful in his hearing with the CHC and will not have to serve the one-match ban proposed by the CCCC. But the one-match suspension for Ciaran McKeever stands and he misses next weekend's home game against Mayo. Armagh's Finian Moriarty, who picked up two yellow cards in the recent league match against Kerry, also had a hearing with CHC who ruled that his first yellow card should not have stood.

ReplyDeleteConor Counihan's side must now travel to O'Moore Park for the round four fixture after their decision to contest the €5,000 fine issued to them by the CCCC arising from incidents in their first round game against Armagh at the Morgan Athletic Grounds backfired badly on them.
O'Sullivan slams CHC decision
"We put in our appeal thinking it might be successful, but it didn't work out and now we move on and prepare for Donegal next week," said O'Sullivan, who managed Munster in yesterday's M Donnelly inter-provincial final against Ulster.
"It's unfortunate. The biggest regret we have is the inconsistency in a lot of parts of the game, whether it is refereeing, officialdom, sideline officials and umpires and inconsistency at the higher levels."
