All Ireland Junior Football Semi Final Derrytresk v Dromid Pearses

All Ireland Junior Football Semi Final Derrytresk v Dromid Pearses
Derrytresk  1-10    Dromid Pearses 0-7

"We were beaten by unfair tactics. At the start of the game, three of my players were caught by the testicles," Mr O'Connell Dromid Pearses manager said.
Team Tactics
"When our fellas went to shake hands with them, the Derrytresk went for their testicles and pulled them at the start of the game. That conduct has no place on a football field. What they wanted was for our players to retaliate, but we are better than that."
Referee, linesmenn and umpires didn't have an issue with this as no action was taken.

During the scuffle, Dromid midfielder Thomas Curran suffered a concussion and was not able to take part in the second half.
"When wing-back Mr O'Sullivan came into the dressing room at half time, his number five jersey was shredded with stud marks at the back. We have pictures of his back which is like a dart board."

Fans also claimed they were subjected to intimidation by Co Tyrone supporters during the game.

Derrytresk officials were unavailable for comment.

There was chaos at O'Moore Park in Portlaoise, Co Laois, on Sunday 22 Jan 2012 when subs and supporters from Derrytresk jumped a barrier and invaded the pitch.
Derrytresk are due to face Clonbur of Galway in the All-Ireland junior football final on February 12th in Croke Park, a fixture that was already confirmed by the GAA yesterday afternoon Mon 23 Jan 2012 – and looks set to go ahead even if there are some suspensions coming down the line.
“I cannot understand how the GAA can allow this to happen."

  4. "Derrytesk forward Joe McKee will be eligible to play in Sunday's All Ireland Junior final after the club successfully appealed the suspension handed down by the Central Hearings Committee as a result of the scenes which marred the semi-final clash with Dromid Pearses.

McKee is a key player for the Tyrone side and will now take his place in the line-up for the Croke Park decider against Clonbur of Galway.

The appeals of three other first team players and four substitutes was not successful at the Croke Park hearing, while Derrytresk will not be allowed to represent Tyrone or the province in club competitions for the next five years.

However, the club have had their fine reduced from €5,000 to €2,500." RTE NEWS Wed 08 Feb 2012

  9. CLONBUR 1-8 DERRYTRESK 1-7 All-Ireland club JFC Final
DISTRAUGHT Derrytresk rounded on the media after a Herculean effort for All-Ireland glory came up short at Croke Park yesterday.
Short of seven players suspended from the semi-final row in Portlaoise, defiant Derrytresk were an inspired force for three quarters of the match.
But as the match wore on, tiredness set in and they left gaps for the Galway men to exploit. Afterwards Derrytresk joint-manager Paul Hughes would speak to only local Tyrone journalists, with club officials blaming trial by media for their defeat.

Crucially, a fresher Naomh Padraig outscored them by five points to nil in the last quarter. "It's great for a small club like ourselves in the west of Ireland," smiled manager Stephen Joyce.

Before the match the seven suspended members of the Derrytresk squad went down to the front of the Hogan Stand to link arms with the rest of the squad in a pre-match huddle.

  10. Dromid Pearses are most likely to appeal the three-year provincial and national ban imposed on them by the Central Hearings Committee (CHC) after a hearing on Friday 17 Feb 2012.
The €2,000 fine recommended by the Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC) halved to €1,000, but the ban of three years for their part in the ugly scenes that marred the All-Ireland JFC semi-final with Tyrone’s Derrytresk is more damaging to the club.
