Meath claim victory over Wicklow 1-17 to 1-12 in Aughrim Sat
15 June 2013
Wicklow Penalty !
Two points in Meath’s favour when Wicklow’s Seanie Furlong
shaped up to take a Wicklow penalty but his effort was saved by Meath Goalkeeper
Paddy O'Rourke.
Wicklow were awarded a controversial penalty when Meath
goalkeeper Paddy O'Rourke appeared to have been impeded by Furlong outside the
small square but play continued and O’Rourke was himself penalised for a tug on
Wicklow’s McGrath. Furlong struck a poor penalty, however, and O'Rourke saved.
Meat’s Kevin Reilly's 33 min goal from half way was welcome
as Meath took a 1-10 to 1-4 advantage at half time in a wet and windy Aughrim
with Meath playing with the wind.
Meath maintained momentum in e second half and despite a
last-minute McLoughlin point, Wicklow were unable to get back in and it was the
Meath men who won to book a semi-final meeting with Wexford.
